PHI BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY INCORPORATED
Southwestern Region

President's Messages

Welcome to Phi Beta Sigma – Southwestern Region website,

I bring you greetings as the Regional Director. Our region has garnished much success in 2011 and 2012 should allow us more opportunity for growth. We had brothers chair four of the twelve National Conclave Committees; won the National Model Chapter of the Year for alumni and collegiate chapters, Debate competition, and Emmitt Smith Athletic Award. The region had largest alumni and collegiate chapter - Two alumni chapters with membership over 100 and two collegiate chapters with membership over 40. Finally, we concluded the conclave with election of the National Director of Bigger & Better Business.

Our region has great history in the evolution of this fraternity. Two of the illustrious founders have roots in Tennessee and Kansas – Honorable Abram Langston Taylor and Charles Ignatius Brown, respectively. In January 2011 we celebrated the life and legacy of Charles I. Brown in Kansas City; and in January 2012 we will do the same for Abram L. Taylor in Memphis as we march to the jubilee of 100 years in existence.

As we learn, inspire, and believe, we will continue to change the culture of our fraternity in order for greatness by becoming the fastest growing region, developing our future leaders, and championing Sigma wellness and reporting. We have the highest membership total in the history of the region. There are more brothers involved in the Sigma Leadership Academy, Regional conference, and Conclave thus enhancing our future leaders. Finally, our region chapters were recognized more than any other region for the work we do and report in our communities.
The regional conference in St. Louis, MO should be one for memory. I hope to see you there.

Fraternally,

TJ Lewis
